Bob Dylan, the mystery

WDST’s program director Jimmy Buff send me a curious image today, as Radio Woodstock was celebrating Bob Dylan’s 69th birthday.

Buff said the image from Dylan’s passport is from the liner notes the the “Bootleg Series Vol 1-3 Boxset.”

“Note the date,” Buff wrote. “My theory is Bob is happy to let the world celebrate the wrong date. Maybe I’ll ask (Bob Dylan’s son) Jakob when he comes to Woodstock in July.”

We will too.

Jakob Dylan and Three Legs are performing at the Bearsville Theater on July 9.

Then again, the passport says Dylan, not Zimmerman – has he legally changed his name? If not, I would guess the whole passport's a fake, in which case it wouldn't surprise me at all if he made up a fake birthday.

He did legally change his name. Perhaps May 11 is the date of issue. Not the date of birth.

Dylan is notorious for his identity issues, once checking into a hotel as "Jim Nasium". This passport, I believe, is shown with the wrong date on purpouse. When releasing a superstars album no details are overlooked, and the date on a passport would be no exception. Either someone typed it wrong when he got it, or they had a fake one made, or it really IS the right date…

…oh and by the way, he's NOT 5'11", Ive seen him up close and he's more like 5'4"
